The Three Most Direct Ways to Earn More Money Now
Often I’ll begin coaching a self-employed, brand new coaching client who needs to get the money flowing now. When I begin coaching a client who needs to earn more immediately, it’s off-purpose to plant future seeds. This is the checklist I use to get more cash generated quickly.
1). Identify who it is that you want to serve the most.
Who do you really enjoy working with? Serving which demographic most warms your heart? What do these prospects really care about? What problems do they usually have that they must solve soon? What brings them alive? What are they not willing to compromise? Once you’ve answered these questions to the point of knowing exactly who they are and what they care about, then you can express yourself more clearly and they can find you more easily. Read a description here of those who I want to serve the most.
2). Ask for the money.
“All the money you want, someone else has, and you need to ask them for it to receive it.” Egbert Sukop
I’m not just talking about putting things out there on your blog or your website. I’m talking about calling up people you know and asking them whom they know. But ask for referrals very specifically by describing your answers to #1 above. Then, after describing whom you most want to serve, ask. Who does that bring to mind? Who do you know who fits that description? They can tell by the enthusiasm in your voice that you passionately want to serve that person so they are much more eager to refer you. Remember, it’s often not the direct action that brings in the cash. Often results come parallel to action.
3). Work in the now.
It’s very likely that in this moment you and I have enough money. The bills are current and there is gas in our car, a roof over our heads and food in the fridge. In this moment, all is well. So why do we feel like we have so little when we actually have enough? How can we feel like we have so little when something always turns up and it always turns out to be enough? Hasn’t that been your experience?
The now is the only place where we can produce anything. In the present we are powerful and in the future or the past we are powerless. Yet we don’t commit to living in this moment, do we? Have you ever wondered why?
Here is a fundamentally erroneous belief that you may not know you have. If you believe that money will solve all your problems then it will always seem as though you don’t have enough money. Why? You always have problems to solve. Since you will always have problems you will never have enough money to seem like you’re problem-free and that will make you strive for an unreachable future where you are problem free. It’s a no-win game to play.
Our biggest problem is that feeling of future security that we crave. It’s not enough for us to feel good about what we have now. No, we also want a guarantee that we will have more than enough in the future. It’s that focus on the future that creates the stress in the moment and that stress lessens your ability to maximize your earnings in the now. You can’t possibly be there and earn here. It sounds so obvious but that’s where powerless victims tend to take their thoughts.
If you really want to get the money flowing, then run your thoughts and actions by this quick checklist. Make the adjustments you need to make and feel good about where you are and what you have right now. Which of these three do you need to engage to get more money flowing? On which of these three do you tend to lose your focus? Is there a fourth strategy that you would add?

“Remember, it’s often not the direct action that brings in the cash. Often results come parallel to action.”
Aha! Yes….a wise blogger once told me, “Result often come along side of action, not neccesaily because of it!”
How true this has proven, over and over again, in my life. Results that find their way into my daily activity, which my previous unelightened self would have easily dismissed as “would have happened anyway” would not have been present at all without the action and all the “parallel” things the action creates and attracts!

Tom,
Re: “coaching synergy”, what % of potential clients do you find aren’t a best fit for you (i.e. that you politely turn down or refer elsewhere?)
I ask this because from a newly minted coach’s perspective, it can sometimes seem like they have to be “all things to all people” in order to catch a few client fish in their nets! lol
And, not surprisingly, few will take that bait!
There are lessons in attraction that many of us are, for diverse reasons, repulsed by!

Hi Tom,
I love #3. Living in the now is so important. We can’t change the future, but we can change the present. Too often time is wasted worrying about tomorrow or next week or ten years from now. For one, we may not even be living, and secondly, by spending so much time worrying about what MIGHT happen, we miss out on life’s simple pleasures.
Barbara Swaffords last blog post..The Biggest Mistake I Made In Blogging
Dear Delightful Work Readers,
I am a brand new coaching client of Tom’s who definitely needed to get the money flowing NOW. I have not one, but two businesses, and while I am passionate about what is possible for me in both, I was not feeling that passion on an everyday basis, and no surprise - the money was not following.
Enter Tom the last week of May.
Step 1: Identify who I want to serve the most. Easier said than done! But SO worth the effort!
For my coaching practice, that is: middle age women who feel trapped, who don’t feel like they can be themselves without disappointing someone or pissing someone off. They’ve had it with living by other people’s rules and want more out of life, but aren’t sure what “it” is, or how to get it.
For my web design business, that is: self-employed people who are smart, successful and passionate about what they do and want to create a web presence that conveys their passion and calls the name of those they wish to serve. They either don’t have the technical know-how or the time to create it themselves, but they want it now. They want to be able to easily manage it themselves, once it’s built, yet know that they’re not in it alone and any technical expertise they require is just a phone call or email away.
Believe it or not, it felt like labor and delivery coming up with those two statements! What’s crazy is that I thought I knew who my ideal clients were until I had to actually write it down. No wonder I was struggling month to month! I couldn’t articulate who I wanted to serve, and if I didn’t know who that was, do you think anyone out there in the world knew? No!
Step 2: Ask for the money.
Now this is something that previously filled me with fear - and no wonder! Previously, I had no clear answer to “what do you do?” that people could instantly understand, so no wonder I was reluctant to stick my neck out and ASK for the money. In fact, I was more than reluctant - I didn’t do it.
But you know what? With a clear answer? I’ve been asking everyone I know. Literally. I make what most would call ‘cold calls’ every week, and I’ve gained new clients as a result. And for the calls that don’t result in a new client - a seed has been planted. Now people know what I do and for whom, and when they run into someone who fits my profile, they’re more likely to remember me and the fact that I am looking for exactly that person! I’ve gained 2 new web clients in the last two weeks in this way - someone I spoke to knew someone I had described and connected the two of us - TWICE!
The best part is the fear is gone. I know who I am, what I have to offer, and who I am looking to serve. Nothing to fear in that!
Step 3: Work in the now.
What Tom says is true, and I have always known that something will turn up and things will always work out. I’ve been operating on that principle for the last 6 years, all based on my unwavering intention to be self-employed. But I was also stressing out every day, worrying about how I was going to create the income I needed to survive. I calmed myself by looking backward and remembering that things have always worked out, but I spent little time in the ‘now’, enjoying what I was doing.
By the 15th of this month, I had already brought in what I ‘normally’ make in a month, and I’m on track to double, or holy cow, triple my income this month! When I realized that last week, my knee jerk reaction was, “That’s great - but what about July? How can I replicate this again in July?” But then I caught myself. Immediately, I thought, “Fooey on July! July will be great! Let me concentrate on enjoying this moment doing the work that I love, and before I know it, it will be July and I will still be enjoying this moment and doing the work that I love.”
I do have a Step 4: Give yourself permission.
Has Tom taught me anything ‘new’ this month? No. I’ve known these steps for a long time. What Tom has taught me is that I can know all this, and still live a less-than life. I have to give myself permission to 1) be my real, bad-ass self in this world and 2) create the life I really want by TAKING ACTION. Without my own permission - permission to be real, permission to risk, permission to fail, permission to rise again, permission to thrive - I stay stuck.
Well, sorry, I’m done with stuck. Done.
If you’re done with stuck, too - contact Tom. Get the money flowing NOW.

Clem you’ve learned this one well. I call it my “out-of-the-blue generator.” Why? Because when seemingly unconnected results come they are always a pleasant surprise but you and I both know why.
Mark, I find that my intake process generally weeds out those who are not a good fit for my style of coaching. I stress accountability quite a bit so the timid do not usually hire me. But the bold are eager to begin. You’ve got to cast a narrower net. I cast a wide one for years and struggled because of it. Read Suzanne’s comment above. She really nailed the answer to the first question and so now her potential clients can recognize themselves even before they contact her.
Tell me what about the Law of Attraction repulses you?
Barbara staying in the present moment seems like such a simple process but implementing it can be a challenge for folks who have the habit of worrying. I agree it could be the greatest of all life’s lessons.
Suzanne you are such a willing student and a delightful coaching client. I like your addition for number four. Being all of who you are is the only way that others can experience you and see if they want to play with you or in this case hire you. You have nailed the description of who you like to serve very well. Your abundance will continue, glory be!
To all, I use Suzanne’s technical expertise in building my blog and her services are first rate.
What a great quote from Sukop! We really do need to ask for what we want. If we really believe in our product or service we won’t have any trouble making the request.
If we don’t have faith then we need to go back and work a little harder until the faith arrives.

Hey Tom!
Wow! Your blog is overflowing with love and joy! I love it!
I just found your blog through one of the comments from fellow country-woman, Evelyn Lim’s blog!
I truly believe the Law of Attraction put us together because we have similar takes on a lot of things.
Including this post when you talked about who you want to serve and ask for the money. (I have different steps after that)
I’d love to connect with you on a deeper level Tom! =)

Hi Tom,
Re LoA: The late Rob Butts (husband of Jane Roberts) had a handwritten note on their wall: “You get what you focus on. There is no other main rule” - or words to that effect.
If the lessons of life reflect that premise, then results can sometimes seem “repulsive” to those still in the school of humanity.
And playing truant doesn’t count

Karl yes it makes so much sense to ask for what we want by so many are hesitant to do so. Some sales people just keep talking because they are afraid to close and ask for the money. One problem is that we don’t have even pride in being simple merchants anymore. It’s good to go out and sell something for cash occassionally just for the feel of it.
Saif welcome to Delightful Work. I’ll check out your blog soon. We create everythingright? Including our intentions of who we want to meet. Looking forward to getting to know you better.
Mark thanks for the clarification. Personal responsibility can seem repulsive to many who are still looking in form the other side of that fencce.
I struggle with what I charge for my service. I am pricey. I can totally justify the fee but I almost feel that I should apoligize when I tell them what I charge. I charge what I do because:
I have the credentials
I have a unique approach to my service
I offer more than others in the field (on line support and curriculum)
I hit the need in schools dead on target
I am in line with what others charge
How do I overcome this feeling?
A good place to start would be to make a similar list on why you feel you are pricey. Somewhere on that list you’ll see some reasons that just aren’t true. Obviously your distress around what you charge is emotional not logical. You might release the feeling by feeling it fully and then by asking what do you really fear? If your customers felt your price was too high, what’s the worst that could happen from that?
Lots of us have money issues that need to be examined and cleared. An excellent method is by using emotional freedom technique. Check out this good one here,

You could also hire a good coach to support you while you take so much action you don’t have time to worry about what you charge. I know a good one.
