A Guided Meditation for Authentic Expression
It’s not enough to just work in the world. Often we need to go deep within so we can find the courage and wisdom to express authentically.
I’ve shared my heart with you in this guided meditation.
If you’ve arrived on this page, you believe in the power and the magnificence of authentic expression.
No matter who you are or what you’re doing right now, you could use a break.
Through this guided meditation you can access your authentic edge.
Slowing down takes courage. Are you brave enough to give yourself a gift of slowing down for 16 minutes and 30 seconds?
You’ll need paper and pencil to capture your emerging wisdom on the other side of this meditation. You may be moved to action after listening. If you want to experience a heart-to heart coaching conversation just ask.
The chimes signify a transition. Feel free to pause the recording if it feels right for you to remain in the previous space before moving on. Click the player to begin:
Authentic Expression Meditation
Thank you for sharing your authentic expressions inspired by this experience.

Aloha Tom,
Thank you for this guided meditation. It has been a blessing to have your guidance and support.
My action for today towards nurturing authentic expression is to be aware of my conditioned thoughts and stories and communicate more authentically from my heart. The thinking heart that some eastern cultures refer to as the “heart-mind.”
I also have deep appreciation for “project blast off.” Having newly created my blog to support my “Mindul Coaching” business it has led to many insights for me.
With gratitude,
Allan
Hi Tom,
I just happened upon your post and decided to listen to the whole episode. Well, here’s my surprise ending: in response to your first question, I came up with some expected answers and then, number 6: forgive my parents once and for all and get on with being the authentic me. As for the second question, the action is to stop believing their version of me; their version is false. I know I must believe in the real me in order to do what I came here to do. I forgive them because they never really knew anything about who I really am. They treated me based on their limited belief system, and that has confused me for as long as I can remember. I feel free!
This was a very powerful experience, Tom. Thank you for sharing it. I hope many people will take the time to stop and listen and learn.
You certainly are full of surprises, aren’t you?
Best,
Dorothy
This is fantastic – I haven’t listened to the entire episode, but look forward to taking time over the weekend.
I agree – slowing down is courageous. Often we want to but others around us aren’t ready…makes it hard.
Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you for the guided meditation and for the insight it has brought me.
Apparently I am not ALLOWING into my life all that I want or need to express my authentic self. The action to address that today is to accept who I am and what I want to do.
I have started a new business as an intuitive consultant, a psychic if you like, as well as fine art. Having a background in and still working a day job in science, I am having a hard time with the culture of scientific thought – that what I want to do, my life’s work, is laughable, unscientific hogwash and not valuable. I know in my heart that it’s not laughable and is indeed valuable. I have seen the beneficial results of my work. And yet, years of immersion in this pervasive culture is still difficult to shake. I need to get over the fear of announcing the new me, the real me, to others.
How’s that for publicly baring your soul, eh?
I also want to thank you for yet another thing – besides all the inspiration you’ve given me, I also found the link to my new real authentic self business on your blog!
Thanks again, Tom! Many blessings to you!

First off, the chimes are very cool. They radiate through the noodle instantly relaxing you. This was a powerful mediation that really brought up a lot of feelings. The side effect of the mediation is I really want to go out and find a babbling brook to sit by. Thank you Tom for sharing this with us!

Allan – Welcome. You do gratitude so well. I’m confident that your new blog and business will indeed blastoff! Your action is beautiful. I can imagine you spreading blessings far and wide all day long. Authentic power be with you.
Dorothy – I’m touched by the clarity and power of your realization. I’m proud of you for standing tall and releasing the limiting beliefs that were assigned to you. As far as surprises, I’ve only just begun.
I’m betting the farm on my expressed authenticity this year!
Stacey – Please return after your mediation to share your action. I’ve devoted this entire day to slowing down and giving the gifts of reflection, gratitude and support. Many get caught in the cycle of do-do-do and then they wonder why never seem to get anywhere. I’m pleased that you are ready and willing to be bold.
Keena – Welcome. That indeed is a wonderful soul-baring! Please return and let it rip any time you are so inspired. Your not the first spiritual being who has had the opportunity to enlighten what appears to be a closed environment. Trust this, you have supporters all around you. Even within your scientific community there are those who would be open to a discussion. Use your intuition to decide who to share your passion with. I’m betting you’ll be pleasantly surprised at their response.
See if you can join us for my free phone class on Jan 21. The lift will be very helpful for you.
Jay – Thank you for Tweeting this post and for sharing the powerful feelings that came up. Did you decide on an action of authentic expression? Please return and let us know about it. As for the brook, it’s about 15 degrees in Pittsburgh today so I’ll stay with the one in my mind.
Hi Tom,
My first reaction – 16 minutes! I don’t have 16 minutes. And yet, how can I not make the time for “me”. Sixteen minutes toward a greater understanding of living authentically. I began, hesitant, that I would stay with it the whole time, that I wouldn’t fast forward through it. And then I stopped. I found a quiet place, a quiet moment. And I listened. With intent…
This was very much a meditative experience, really putting me into a place of deep calmness. (if I received nothing else from this, it was worth it) .
And I came out with the intention, something I’ve been planning to do, and yet – that’s just it – I’ve been stuck in the planning stage. I have an idea for a book, and possibly a series of books. The idea has been floating around for some time, and that’s just it – it continues to float around. Something’s holding me back from just starting to put pen to paper. Today, I commit to starting, however so that is, whatever that will mean today (and I’m not sure) – I must start to write.
Tom, thank you, for sharing this guided meditation…

Hi Tom. I’m brave enough. I’ll be back to explore this over the weekend. Sounds intriguing.

Lance – It’s cool to see that you also have the courage to invest 16 minutes in you. Sounds like your authentic expression hit is a strong one. Honor it. Why not decide to write something, even for just 16 minutes, every day? Don’t judge the product before it’s birthed my friend. It’s evident that your hearty is a big one. Thus you’ll create something of value just from intent alone. Trust that and write.
Davina – Thanks Davina, it will be indeed that. Please return and share your realizations after you invest 16 minutes in your authentic expression.
Meditations are each unique ways to get in touch with parts of yourself that you had temporarily forgotten or let slip off the radar sceen. I like how you encourage people to redefine personal clarity away from the distractions of the modern world.

I love a good guided meditation like this one. It helps focus in on what’s bothering me and letting it all go. When we let go of all the emotional build-up we can move on to accomplishing the goals that will push our career forward.
A lot of my worries stem from having a job and not being able to make a full push into my business. John Grisham made his way into the publishing industry while working as a full-time lawyer. I just have to make time for what I can and when I’m ready to launch my business the foundation will be there.

Hi Tom. I liked the bells that you used during this mediation, and the image of the balloons. Thanks for sharing.
Another good practice for letting go of “stuff” is to imagine yourself burying it and allowing it to be recycled in the earth. An exercise shared with me from a Native American elder. Guess it depends on whether a person resonates more strongly with the sky or the earth.
The answer I received about how I will express myself authentically is very simple actually… to simply Look at people, not glance, but look and allow the connection to happen instead of fearing the connection.

Good stuff.
Seems like you’re experienced in hypnotherapy?
This reminded me at some point I want to do a comparison of the various practices (guided meditation, self-hypnosis, Shamanic journeys … etc.)
I noticed you asked good questions which is key. Many people start finding the right answers, once they start asking the right questions.
Good job.

Hi Tom, wonderful mediation. Very peaceful and beautiful.
I wrote down my 6 things and the one I chose to act on is to freely write without worrying so much how I compare to others or what people may think. I can still aim to write well and with quality while also being real. Thanks.

Liara – Thank you. I’d say we can more clearly see the more we are able to tune out the outside world. It’s a wonderful intention because all wisdom comes form within.
Karl – Worries generally indicate that you are rushing the process by trying to in imagine yourself outside of the present moment. I’ve seen your work, it’s good and needed. Stay present and do what you can do each moment. Then you will be rewarded.
Davina – Ah… that’s a beautiful authentic intent – to really see another and connect being to being.
J.D. – I have no hypnotherapy experience or training. I simply go within guided by my intention and and see what comes. Agreed, it’s curious how some folks will attempt discovery without good questions. In my experience that simply doesn’t work.
Christine – Powerful! Yes intend your authentic voice. Write in that voice with true desire to be of service and it won’t matter what anyone else thinks.
Oh loved it!That was really relaxing, and thank you so much. You have made my Sunday so much better, and I will listen again. My brains have just been rejuvenated.
Hi Tom, So many people here that I know!
Was like coming home.
I did the meditation and since I’m working right now I first felt like my friend Lance (do I have the time?), and then in the next second I thought…”That’s WHY I need to do this BECAUSE I’m working right now.
It’s a break for me.”
I then dove into it full heartedly. My body is very open to meditaion and I tend to live in a meditative state, to the point that when I am stressed or in unease I know I have left my normal state and need to realign. So when listening to this I dropped like a stone. Having lived in the rainforest and many wild places I instantly visualized the walk through the forest, the stream, the light shaft, and the GLORIOUS tree (I love trees) and then the box and all the rest.
The part that stayed with me the most and that really resonates with me is the “the world supports you” (not sure on exact wording you use). But that is something that I not only believe but feel everyday. I cannot even think that thought without falling over and over in love with Life.
This is lovely what you are doing and I really like how this one focuses on the authentic self. Anything less doesn’t exist. I also believe that when we live our authentic self the world rises up to meet us at our doorstep. It might appear that we will hurt someone if we’re authentic, but I have learned that we hurt others (and ourselves) when we AREN’T authentic. We offer the most precious gift when we are authentic…we invite others to authenticity as well, we instill freedom and Life itself.
Very nice Tom.
Robin Eastons last blog post..Feeling Trapped?
Hi Tom,
I’m back happy to say I took the 16 minutes today to listen to your meditation. Typically I’m the one guiding people through them so it was nice for a change to be guided! Admittedly nothing new came up for me- simply because I have been doing this work for a while now. However, what it did do was validate what I have been considering and recognizing that it’s time to make a shift – to let go of some more stuff in order to focus on what I really want. The answers I arrived at were similar and even more clear. The road is long, and every day is an opportunity to start fresh.
Thank you again for providing this…I enjoyed the time for me.
Sharon – Welcome! I specialize in rejuvenated brains.
I subject my own to a thorough scrubbing often.
Robin – Welcome! How delightful it is to read your heartfelt comment. I totally get what you say about falling in love with life over and over again. Good vibes and many happy returns back at you.
Stacey – Love to see folks keeping their word and proving it. Focusing on what we want is the essence of authenticity. Cheers!
Tom- Thanks for asking my result of your great mediation. I discovered two things really.
One- live for others and my life will improve exponentially with thiers.
Two- stop trying to juggle a bunch of things at once. Concentrate on doing one thing great, and life will be perfect.
I think I knew these things deep down, but sometimes our lives get so full we forget to take a minute (or 16) and just stop and listen. Thanks again Tom!
Jays last blog post..The Never Ending Class- Common Dreams #1
Hi Tom,
I finally got the time to listen to this uninterrupted.
My one thing is to try out different ways of writing on my blog. What I write is pretty much from my core but I want to try out different stuff and see what happens. Especially starting with a negative (I tend to get the negative out of the way before I write and I’m wondering what will happen if I include it instead.) I may not publish the results but I’m looking forward to the experiment.
Thanks.

Crystal – Now that you are relaxed, you have slowed down enough to give space to you authentic voice. Space opens the heart and allows our true voice to emerge.
