Katie - Thank you, that makes me feel good to know that I make the Levity Coach happy. :) I love your main thing. We all need to lighten up!

Jannie - I don't know many wedgie songs period. :) You keep doing your thing. Your originality inspires all of us.

Patricia - You always know your focus and that is a very powerful place to be.

Trey - Thank you man. Confidence rules and I love that you are such an open creator. It's the act itself that inspires you. Very cool.

Hi Tom,

My main thing is the act of creation. I love to create things out of a blank slate, and bring them to life. Whether it be a blog post from a blinking cursor, a song from a clicking metronome, or a drawing from a blank piece of paper, this is what motivates me. The act of creation falls under all of the guidelines that you set above, and is what I want to build my business around.

I already knew all of that, but your post made me more confident about this belief. Thanks a lot for this! :-)

Well, my real main thing is the love for my family.

And secondly my music, writing songs really lets me be unique. How many songs about someone having had a wedgie on her wedding day do you come across? Probably not too many in the run of your day. (Or life.) :)

Tom,
I LOVE your posts. They make me happy. Now that that's out in the open...
My main squeeze is to bring levity and buoyancy to people's lives. I feel that if I am not or my clients are not feeling "lightness" and "freedom" than nothing else matters. I deeply believe that life is meant to be lived with a sense of levity.
Also, I work with laughter and play as integral components to optimal personal and professional performance(which this is basically opposite of to our current societal paradigm)
Hmmm..maybe it is like the quote from Shawshank Redemption
"Get busy living or get busy dying." I think that is our choice and I think I help people choose the living side.

It took me forever to figure this out, years. But then, when I did, it was like a big 2x4 hitting me over the head (but in a nice way.)

Stacey - I agree it is an uncommon value of yours to be able to
stimulate the experiential side of your service. We all want to feel better and you have a knack of creating those possibilities.

Marc - You seem to be very aware of your capacity and how you've been getting in your own way. That's a huge first step because you have already "owned" what has been slowing your progress. I can recommend many effective jump-starts to movement. Read the posts on this blog under the Getting Unstuck category and then send me an email on where you are to Tom@CoreU.com - I'll help you refine your apporach.

Robin - I agree and you do a wonderful job of that at your blog. You also encourage us to oppen our eyes wide to consider alternative views that encourage that aliveness.

Ari - Those indeed are two powerful questions and I believe you have them in the right order. I would keep questioning specifically around the inspiration because by fulfilling that value the leadership will happen as well. How does what you love to do inspire? What original beauty do you offer that others find inspiring? Keep rephraqsing these questions and look for the opening that really turns you on.

Evan - Love it man. Nourishing is a great way to explain fulfillment because getting to the core actually feeds you. :) We have much in common here. My coaching website is http://coreu.com

Barbara - Sing your own song indeed. That's extremely fulfilling and the only way to live fully. I'm pleased that we are both cheering in the same vein. You'll probably enjoy this post http://www.delightfulwork.com/business-startup/do-it-your-way/

Karl - I am so pleased that you have decided to make happier and more delightful work places for those who don't want to be their own boss. Between us we cover the world! :)

My niche is building happiness at work. Too many people just put up with their crappy job. That's why I love what you do. I don't think entrepreneurship is for everyone, but for the ones that want to run their own business they should be reading this blog.

"The world needs you to express your magnificent unlikeness. "

That's similar to one of my tag lines on which I pound again and again - Sing your own song! Don't follow the herd; be confident enough in your own abilities that you stand first alone...and then look behind to see who's listening to you.

My main thing is authenticity - getting to the guts/core of something. Doing this with others is profoundly nourishing for me.

The business built around it is an online course and some eBooks.

That was a timely post, Tom. I feel like I'm still trying to figure it out. The reason I didn't launch my business as I planned it was b/c I was still unsettled on the answer to this question. What is my main thing?

I keep going back to the 4 values you had us pick out during the telecourse I took. Mine were: be imaginative, learn, inspire, and lead.

I am a musician, there's no doubt about that. And I've done some work, which is great. But so far the stuff I've done don't incorporate all of those core values. I suppose I'm always imaginative and learning, but inspiring isn't fully integrated and leading is virtually non-existent.

I have identified core values and skills. Now the question is, how can I combine them to offer value, and how do I find people who want what I have?
